January 2018 || Free 52

Hello friends!

I am here for another year of the Free 52!! If I am being honest, I seriously considered no longer continuing to participate in this project, however, it keeps me faithfully blogging, which I've done a terrible job keeping up with otherwise. But I also truly do love freelensing and I love participating with the lovely ladies in this circle! So here I am to share with you another month of freelensed images!

I don't feel like I shot as much in January as I usually do. On top of life, we have started the process of building a house, which included many meetings, injured my back by slipping some discs, which has resulted in PT visits and then the little fact that I lost my battery charger.....so my camera is dead. Buuuuut I will share with you what I did get! After scrolling through here, travel to my friend Lauren Jensen, to see her freelensed January!

One reason I struggled with whether or not I would continue this project was because I joined, SO MANY new projects this year. After the initial moment of being overwhelmed, I was able to narrow down were I would occasionally share and were I would share weekly on prompts. One project is a weekly still life group. I am very excited about this group because I have never felt like I had a good place to share still life, nature and macro images. Now I do! For this particular week, the week had been 'water' and I used reverse freelensing to capture some water droplets on tulips. And the next few were in the theme of black and white of my new succlents! (also reverse freelensed) If you are interested in seeing some amazing still life, come visit! Still Life 2018 P52

The next project, you've seen before if you've followed this blog or scrolled around. P52 Get In The Frame This group is a weekly self portrait group. I started this last year and got about 20-25 total images out of the 52 weeks. I am determined this year to get all 52. I want to prove that I was there too. Far too often I am the absent one in all of our photos. I strongly believe that it is important to be present, to leave something for my kids to look back on, to remember the times we spent together. So often as moms, I think we focus on all the things we don't like. We wait, "until I do...", "I will get in when....". There is no time like now. Your kiddos, your family, they all just see you. The mom, wife, partner that they love. So do it! And if you also feel so inclined, join the group. It is a closed group. And one of the most supportive groups I've seen out there. And the inspiration is off the charts. So anyways, this month I freelensed two of my self portraits. The ones sans kiddos....because moving kids and propped lenses and cameras don't yet mix!! (the others are not freelensed and include the kiddos!)

Okay, I am just going to throw the rest of January up together! We danced in the sunlight that one morning that it wasn't gray, cloudy and raining. And then that one afternoon the sun actually came out in the PNW, we went on a walk around our neighborhood national wildlife refuge!!
