July/August 2018 || Free 52

Summer is always a blur. Amiright?? To that end, here is the Free 52 submission of July AND August because we were all to crazy to get a post in last month!!

In addition to not even coming close to editing all of my summer images, I have to admit that for once in several years, I shot with my lens ON more than off. I boil this down to two factors.

1: I was busy. I was attempting to be present. This summer, shooting felt like much more of an after though. While I was working towards a 100 Day’s of Summer project. I did not let it become habit this summer. I carried my camera often, but often also just took it out for a short time and then put it away. I’m still working on finding the balance between documenting our lives and living our lives <3

2: I actually purposefully TRIED to keep my lens on to push myself. This sounds weird, right?? It has become such a habit, such second nature to take my lens off that I forgot what it was like to create images with lens ON!! It forced me to be very much aware of my focal depth in a way I do not worry as much about with freelensing. I found myself looking more throughout my entire frame to compose my shots. It was fun actually!! However, I was left, at times, feeling unfulfilled, as I have some intense desire to create, to break the mold, to feel free! As I enter the fall, I think I will find a balance between the two, because one thing I did find is that SOMETIMES nothing compares to a well focused, solid, beautiful image! This was great practice in exploring something new (of more aptly forgotten) appreciating the value in a different way of creating and defining when to break free and when to creating cleanly. <3

Without further ado…I give you all the images I have edited AND that were freelensed by me in July and August!! Please visit my friend Diana next to see her gorgeous freelensing!

A creative photo meet up at Leverich Park in Vancouver. Gosh I have SOOO many un-freelensed images from this meet up! They kind of warrant their own blog post!

This next shoot was part of a collaboration with the Washington Dance Creative! So there is a LOT of non-freelensed images that go along with this, these are just the few I freelensed! I had so much fun with this group. So much fun that I was able to collaborate again with them in August as part of another project that I can not yet share!!!! (but I can very soon!) Stay tuned!!

Last group of images are from this past month. They include a last summer hurrah out for a special afternoon bowling with friends. Some freelensed self portraits that I attempted with four little kids running around me and an image from a trip up to Mount St Helens!
