The Traveling Dress Collective - Team No Pants

I have been waiting so long to share this post with you all!! And the time has finally arrived! Please get comfy, it's a long one and I don't know that I've ever been this excited to share!

This past December, a super talented friend of mine asked me if I wanted to join her in a project called The Traveling Dress Collective. This project originally began last year with 7 photographers who all photographed one dress, each with their own vision of the dress. They kept their images private until each one was able to create their vision without influence from others in the group. This year, The Traveling Dress project became the Traveling Dress Collective. Each original Traveling Dress member created her own group of 7-8 members. Each group has a different dress, but the rules remain the same. Shoot the dress with your vision in mind, do not share your images until the group is finished. My group - Team No Pants, has finally finished and I can FINALLY share!!

To say that I am honored to be part of this project is such an understatement! When I agreed to participate, I had no clue the magnitude of talent that I would participate with, not only in the entire collective, but my group alone!! Whew, wow. They all blow me away! So I am excited to finally share my entire set with you here. A loop of my entire group's dress can be viewed on Instagram. (scroll ALL the way down this page to my IG link) And our entire group can be seen here on The Traveling Dress Collective website! Check it out!!

A little set up for my session.... My turn with our dress was in FEBRUARY! February folks. Now if you are a PNW resident (specifically, Washington....Seattle) you know that we had record rain and gray this winter. In fact we broke a 185 year record for rain. I think there were about 3 days of sun from October to April. Somehow, the day that my model and I planned to meet was 1 of those 3 days. In addition, I should mention that one week prior, there was a FOOT of SNOW on the ground. A FOOT. We don't often get much snow, so I was stressing big time that week. By some great mercy, the snow melted, the sun came out, and it was a balmy 40 degrees. I still cringe for my wonderful model and what she was so willing to do for me because it was pretty cold to be standing around in this thin dress. A big THANK YOU to Stephanie and her husband, Caleb <3 <3 You guys rocked it and I am so, so grateful!!

Please scroll through to see how beautiful and awesome they are!! And if you've read my past blog entries, you know that I freelensed most of these!

I love these next two just because I love shadows. It's not easy to get a flowing dress when the winds calm down. So you hop up and toss it yourself. End result....they look like the shadow of a wedding cake topper. Totally, award winning photo right? No??

Because Stephanie's husband was willing to join us as a skirt tosser and willing photo participant, I took advantage! The love between these two was obvious....and I'm sure it runs deeper than the fact that he was a warm body to cuddle up to on this cold winter day! (P.S. Next image....heart lens flare! What?!?! How perfect did that turn out!!)

If you made it this far, I am super grateful! Let me know what you think! I am yearning to do more of this. In a busy life with two little ones, I rarely find time to get out and create just for me. I need to make more time for it. Please stay tuned.....I have several more personal projects in mind. I hope they don't take another 6 months to come to fruition, but I so look forward to them and sharing them with you!
